Since I've been a member I've played a significant number of greeter games. I'm finding in the past week that few are being assigned to me even though my setting is correct and I've got fewer games going than the maximum number that I will allow. Anyone else? Is there a sudden shortage of new members?

Smoke, it's probably two-fold. 1. less new members. 2. more greeters. I was seeing the same thing when I was greeting. Unfortunately, I need a break from greeting as I would get 1 out of 9 new members actually playing a game all the way through. Very distracting. :(

Yeah I had the same experience that only one of the people I was playing actually had any interest in playing the game, so I stopped.

Greeter games are unrated as the greeter has no say in who his opponent will be. The greeter could end up playing the next Bobby Fischer or they could end up playing Booby Fischer.

My greeter games have stopped coming again. I've signed on to play greeter games but haven't got one in a quite a few weeks even though I don't have any going. Are there not enough new members? Are there so many others offering to play greeter games that I'm so back in the queue that none are being assignedf to me?

You may be too slow.

See here, post #8 by Patzer24.

"Greeter games are given to those most active greeters first so that the new members will get to play a quicker game. It all depends on what your time per move statistic is versus other Chess.com greeters."

Thanks TadDude as that likely explains it. My time per move has slowed down as I in recent months I've had to use a larger % of my time per move. I haven't yet timed out in any game I've played in almost a year as a member but if time per move is the criteria then so be it. Of course that does lead me to wonder why greeter games are three day per move games. Presumably it's to give slower new members enought time but quicker ones the advantage of playing with greeters who might play a bit quicker. I'm not totally sold on the criteria but that's for the website to determine.
