I just left 4 or 5 groups but they still show up on "My Groups" list.

It takes some time before they disappear. I`ve just seen your profile and you are a member of 38 groups, are you not?

sometimes you may need to do a quick clear of your browsers cookies and cache, then log back in,

You should see that your changes in groups have taken effect
