    Hi everyone

My daughter plays chess and she is 6. I helped her to create an acoount here, but there was not her year of birth, just 1995 and earlier.

So what should she write in this field?

    Thanks

    Olga

That law applies only in the US, where it was introduced for child protection reasons.

Given this site is based in the US, it has adopted US legal requirements as the norm hence the difference arising.

Not sure there is a way around this Wink

    That's awesome! :D

I hope my son can play by age six.  Best to you, best to her, but I agree, make sure you are by her side when she's online imo.

Beelzebub666, Thanks for the rules, but I'm ready to present true info, I just can't in this case :) So she is not allowed to play chess on-line?

BorgQueen, thank you! Just a couple of years, when I asked her how the knight goes, she answered "clip-clop" :) Play with your son just as if it is fun. Good luck

Yes, sure, I'm always with her while she is on-line. One of the reason is that she doesn't speak English, so it is difficult for her to navigate the site.

Well, you could make an account in your name, and then simply let her log in under it for now until she is of U.S. Legal age.

Priviet Marketer, Kak de  la? :)

Well, I think Bruiser419 has a good point. You could let her play from your account..but I dont know if that is alright according to the site. Best thing to do would be to pm Erik and inquire abt it. :)

An experienced adult chess player should be able to guide in their offspring or prodigies correctly into online chess if they know internet chess well. You can create an interface for FICS that is designed for children if you know what you're doing. All the censorship settings are possible.

(Ha, I should charge money for the interface but maybe I'll help for free if someone messages me.)

As far as chess.com is concerned; its the only family friendly social networking chess site in existence. You can let them play here with guidance with a high unlikely hood of problems.

Furthermore if a child is intelligent enough to play chess then imo they can handle 13+ chess sites.

I don't have kids but I help raise my nephew and there's no point growing them in cotton wool imo.

    Okay, thank you all

I created account for her, but always near her while she's playing. Actually it is easy, since she doesn't know how to browse web.

    Thanks
