Intermittent Temporary Disconnection?

It seems that temporary disconnection (Connection Interrupted, Reconnecting) seems to occur either intermittently or only against certain players.

I play one game with this guy and no incident occurs.

Against a previous opponent no incident occurred.

Now after winning the first game against this guy, I get temporary disconnection in the 2nd game. It occurs again on the 3rd game.

Another day I played against 9 different opponents. Against 3, nothing. Then against a 4th, one game has nothing but the other 3 have temporary disconnection.

The same thing with another. First game nothing. 2nd game temporary disconnection.

It is either Lag Cheating or Intermittent Temporary Disconnection.

However, the word out is that Lag Cheating does not exist in Chess.Com.

So what could possibly be the explanation for intermittent occurence of temporary disconnection?

There are times when temporary disconnection is absent in all games played in one session.  In the next session, it occurs in all games.

    This one, it occurred intermittently.

This site is incredibly CPU intensive (open your 'Device Manager', monitor level of CPU involvement while on this site, I'm confident you'll often see it reach high levels).

The fact that your episodes consistently startup and persist after you've been playing for awhile, suggest you're a victim of 'intermittent temporary disconnection'.

Which I suspect has nothing to do with your ISP but somehow your PC becomes overloaded after awhile.  So, I wonder if the chat windows, seek graph and assorted other scripts that are running, in combination with the game board itself, are awkwardly designed.  Which O/S are you using?

    Mac OS 10.5.8.

However,I have already played sixteen(16) 3/0 games without incident.  And at night intermittent disconnection occurs. One game nothing. Next opponent yes.

    Hello!

This is happening to me quite often these days too. I did all the recomended troubleshoot but the problem persists...

Here is the result of my internet test:

No extra tab open in the browser, no torrent or other downloads, no skype, msn or other types of messengers...

This problem is forcing me to stop playing live and to go back to study chess with my software till the problem get solved... that's the good side of it :)

Your connection speed is about the same as mine but I rarely play live chess here. However I've coached a few classes recently and noticed my students with bad or mediocre connections going offline and back on occasionally.

Your upload/download speeds are OK and you got a B- overall score.  I don't know squat about MACs, is it possible to reload the OS? If so, I'd talk to my ISP provider first maybe they can help you diagnose the problems you're having. Next step is to go to a few MAC forums online that look reliable and if you can't find a good answer post your question there. I presume Apple, like MicroSoft, hosts a website with various tech forums available.
