I have the lastest java update, and I use internet explorer. I had no problems until this last two weeks and suddenly I have notice I just can't play it any more. I thought it may have something to do with not being a premium member?????

very odd. i don't have any problems. and no, it isn't related to premium membership. you should make sure you go here: http://www.java.com/en/ and download the latest just to be sure.

I think they are referring to the LIttle Chess Buddy, the online computer.

Queenie - I have the same problem.  I've tried other sites that use Java (like chesslab) and they aren't working for me either.  I have the latest version of Java.  I use Firefox and it's not working - but when I try IE, it works!!! Go figure...

I have downloaded the latest Java, but still can't get him up on screen, does this mean I will never be able to play against him again I wonder?

queenie, a basic question for you .... since you last used the little guy, what has changed on your pc ?

Do you know;

For example, has your firewall updated itself?  have you uninstalled anything that requires java ?

has your Internet Explorer version been updated from version 6 to version 7 on an automatic install ?

i can log in using fireforx 2.0.0.11  or i can log in using Internet Explorer 6 and both will run the Little Guy no problem .. however, both firefox and IE6 and 7 have their quirks and faults ...

I had looked over all these things before posting this question. This is what I cannot understand. Nothing has changed at my end. I may try using another laptop just to test what happens.

I'm not particularly IT savvy, but AFAIK nothing has changed on my system.  Also, I've made a discovery - I have Firefox 3 Beta 1 on my USB memory stick and the little chess partner (and other java based sites) work fine on that.  So it's just my regular Firefox 2.0.0.11 which doesn't work.  Don't you just love computers!!! Queenie, if Internet Explorer or something else on your pc has updated itself, you may not be aware of it .. some programs update in the background automatically
