Are there minimum system requirements for engaging Live Chess? I suspect that my computer is inadequate (much too slow).
Every time I connect to the server I'm automatically disconnected within a minute, and asked whether to try to reconnect or cancel. I haven't started a game yet as I'm still trying to get in and oriented. I have been connected and in the main room a few times but quickly disconnected each time. The board and other windows take a long time to load, so my main experience has been looking at the hourglass waiting for what seems like a minute every time I click something. If I were able to start a game I can't imagine how it could proceed under the circumstances, and wonder whether the lag-time adjustments would take into consideration the processing speed of my computer. I have a high-speed internet connection.
Playing Online Chess is fine except that the games load slowly, but I blame my own computer for that since they load more quickly on other computers at work.
My own computer is old and maybe just too slow for Live Chess. It's got a 1000MHz processor and 248 MB RAM (using Windows XP '02, Explorer 6.0, and just installed the latest Java).
Any comments are appreciated ;)
Thanks guys. I have issues with my XP copy and have been stuck with what I've got. Time to accept that I need a new/legit system ;) (I was hoping there was a bug I could blame!!). I'll try a different browser in the meantime as suggested. Thanks again.
