Is it possible to play live chess via Internet Explorer yet? I Have just successfully logged onto live chess without the usual great big warnings NOT to use IE, but is it safe to do so? As I share my pc with my family I am very reluctant to install a compatible browser which they are not familiar with.
Yes, you can use Internet Explorer with the Live Chess. However, we believe that Internet Explorer is not *fully* compatible with the Live Chess and that it may cause either lag or disconnections at some moments. We recommend a web browser such as Firefox which would be more stable with the Live Chess at Chess.com
Use Google Chrome. It will solve every problem.
You were right. Now got Firefox installed. I may end up using it full-time! Played my first live game.Got thrashed but that's how you learn.
Please don't use Internet Explorer...it can sometimes be unstable, and as Patzer24 said, it's not 'fully compatible' with all the new web technology. Running the Acid2 and Acid 3 tests at www.webstandards.org should give you an idea that Firefox is better than IE.
It's nice to see another person discover how much better Firefox is than Internet Explorer!
There have been many discussions about which browser to use here at Chess.com, but of the main contenders - IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera - IE is the one which causes the most problems by far.
This isn't a case of people knocking IE just because it's the market leader, or because it's a Microsoft product (which I don't care about, personally) - it really, truly, is simply not as good as the others.
Since Firefox, Chrome and Opera are all free to download, I would highly recommend everyone that uses IE to check them out, find YOUR favourite, and start using it instead of IE!
