I recently lost 13 games on time (entirely my own fault! Had friends over for the weekend.. ). This dropped me 220 points (1505-1285).
I accept full responsibility for this but was just wondering if it was possible to recover these points by clicking some buttons up there @ chess.com HQ or will I just have to play alot of games (and win!).
My concern is that some players in the 1500-1800 range that Id like to play wont accept challenges from someone with a much lower rating than theirs. I completely understand if it cant be done.. just thought Id ask.
Thanks and great site! Im learning loads and cant wait to play tournaments here..
Sla`n (bye in Irish)
Read the 1st message properly.. I lost those games on time. check it out if you dont believe me.. many of them were won games, some against 1500-1600 players
i think you missed the thrust of the question, unbeliever... its not that he lost the games do to lack of ability, but rather on time.
i wish you luck, bob--but Im afraid you will end up having to earn those points back. if you want, challenge me and i will be happy to play you
"I accept full responsibility for this"
You don't accept responsibility by saying it, you accept responsibility by doing it. In this case, 'doing it' means earning your points back against whoever will play you, not asking for a magic click that will allow you to play higher rated players.
Thanks for the "lesson of life" but I just thought Id ask.. thats all
"He who dares.. Wins"
In this case, "Daring" involves asking (politely I might add!) for a hand-out of points.. I have little or no chance of getting them back via "magic click" but If I didnt ask, my chances would be nil..
Hows that for a lesson, wise man?
Gee if all it took to get your points back was to click a button when you lost we would all be rated 2400
Fair enough.. as I said above, it didnt hurt to ask!
"Hows that for a lesson, wise man?"
I don't think you told me anything I didn't already know. You took your shot at a handout, it didn't hurt to ask. But it wasn't until after you were denied your handout that you accepted responsibility -- actually, at that point it was forced on you. Yet you said in your original post that you were accepting responsibility. Catch the difference?
