The part about the clock running, you taking all the material, and it latter apears back. And so... can be explained with a sync problem.

The only thing the sync problem doesn't explain is the unplay moves.

To explain this simple. When you are playing the game there is a sending and reciving pakets of information. An example of a paket may content the game ID, and the move played. Hopefully also contens some sort of security filter, for example the user ID of the player who made this move.

There is a relation between amount of information to proccess and time require to process it. This is more info on the paket more time to work it out.

So the deal is to have just the exact amount of info in the paket to prevent false pakets and no lag that much.

A false paket is a paket that is ilegitimally generate by other source. for instance someone else use your user ID to send your move. You will percive this as sync problems.

I have nevet take the time to get and read the pakets of this website, so I have not idea how secure they are. Also I have not the time for doing this.

Other reasons why this can hapen are some programing bugs. For example some cross talking. In this case the system mix your game with someones else game...

It is hard to know with exactitud what happened to you. They are asking you if you use Ipad or something like that, becouse that is new programed apps for those plataforms, and it is very likely that they have all kind of bugs, while the programing team works in depuring the code. Eventually they will get to something stable.

So there is more than one posible reason why this happened to you.

I once had a mysterious situation where my bishop was moved from C3 back to C1. It was critical because I had my opponent in a very tough jam. I won anyways but I couldnot figure out how my bishop ended back on the back row.

The problem mentioned in this thread just happened again. I stopped playing at the point where things screwed up. My opponents' Queen was on its original square when I moved my knight. Then my queen just disappeared. It's impossible to play when you can't see your opponents' moves or their position on the board.

The game was with NachoCheese. His last and next to last move didn't show up on my board. If someone would tell me how to file a ticket on this it would be appreciated. I never got an explanation about the first incident.

We're testing a new version of the app right now that should completely solve these problems. We've more or less rewritten a lot of the code that deals with Live Chess, and we're confident it's going to be a lot more reliable. We'll probably need another week or so to iron our the kinks and then we can submit to Apple.

Thanks a bunch. I'm enjoying the site a lot except for this issue.

I just had the the same problem happen for the third time. My opponents moves didn't show up on the board and the move sheet simply showed the word "null" for the last ten or so moves of the game. I'm playing on an iPad 3. I first brought this problem to the attention of the staff more than a month ago. Obviously it's not fixed.

Until there is an update to install from the App Store, there's no question it's still unfixed. And unfortunately, Apple has thrown us a bit of a curveball, and we've got some unexpected work to do before they'll allow us to update the in-store version.

Hard to say at the moment, but I'd guess at least another 2-3 weeks. Frown
