Phone: Nokia 6500s
Carrier: Optus (Australia)
Java: Yes
I downloaded the app with no problems, came to login, i type my login details correctly, clicked login, clicked yes to allow access to a non-trusted thingy, it says "connecting..." and nothing happens for about 5-10mins then i get "Error in HTTP operation".
So yeah, i can't even login, any ideas?
I change my phone as much as i change my underwear so i got plenty lying around that i may give a go trying to see if the app works on them. In the meantime this is my favourite phone because its slick looking and so i'm probably not about to change it anytime soon so i would like to get the app working on it if possible.
Cheers.

The Nokia 6500 slide runs the app just fine. It sounds like its the http connection itself that causes trouble. The app tries to get a connection but somehow the device doesn't give it. I trust you already have tried several times.
Have you tried any other mobile http app like gmail or similar? Just to be sure that the device itself is set up correctly to allow midlet http connections. Or maybe try looking for some setting that defines your midlet http connection.
Thanks for the quick reply.
Yes i have tried plenty of times to login with no success.
I don't really use apps on my ohone that are similar but i could give at least one of them a shot.
How would i go about checking my midlet http connection settings?
I dont know the 6500, but on my Nokia E51 its in Installation -> Program Control -> Chess.com ( Open ) -> Access point / Network access etc.
I am afraid the above words are loosely translated from Danish, but I hope they'll give you an idea.

I have a blackberry bold. My cell company is Rogers here is Canada, and I can't connect to mobile chess either. My login takes forever...then fails. I've checked through countless menues on my phone and can't see to figure out why I am having trouble.
Blackberry phones are a bit special. Make sure you have version 1.1 of the app and read this thread on connection settings.

I have a Nokia N95. The app downloads and works fine. In fact, its beautiful.
However, suddenly after a few days or so when I click on the icon to laaunch the app nothing happens. I have to download the app again and over-write the installation. Then it works fine but then after a few days the same problem.
Any thoughts?
Excellent! Thank you!
