After having been struggling for a while downloading the mobile chess with Java for my N8 I finally got it with help from chess.com on twitter.Thank you :)

I have been struggling because your down load links doesn't works,it just send you back to the same page, and this for at least one month..I can see that other members have had the same problems, and have been given a new link individually, wouldn't it be easier for every one if you corrected the link to the one which works,it would save time for everyone.

As said before I downloaded the app. and I can open the app.,but that's all, the app. freezes, and I can't open any games or even the menu. The app has been working fine on my old N95 8gb (also a Nokia),so i would be glad if some one have a solution to my problem, thanks in advance.

It looks nice, but would be even nicer if it worked :)

It doesn't work on my Nokia N8 too. Through the mobile I can't download it. Through the link kohai send I can't install it as well, there is some error. I would be great if you prepare version for this kind of phone!

Unfortunately I have the same phone and same problem. Very frustrating. Like using this chess.com app but if there is no way it will work with phone and no fix I will have to try another site.

Worked on my nokia X6 and that was touch screen, so why not on the N8? Still touch screen?

iPhone apps work on a touch but mobiles weren't created too, so not sure why it would on some and not others.

Thanks for the replies. However, it is deeply depressing that you do not have and maybe even do not intend to provide a service for other touch screen mobiles. This should be stated on your website. Given the number of members that you have, I am sure there are others who do not like apple or ‘droid phones that will also be disappointed not to be able to continue to use your mobile chess app. I hope you will change your policy/software and I will monitor the situation with interest, but I will be unlikely to renew my subscription if the mobile app is not updated.

All of the apps are being updated but it does take time. Its not something that can be built and released. It has to be built, tested, bugs fixed, retested etc.. this app hasn't been updated for a while though :(

I checked again on the mobile page, and while it doesn't  'won't support touch',

it does say it 'will support most'.

I will contact the dev team and see if there are going to be any upcoming releases on this app for you though

NO, is the answer to touch-screen mobile app support/updates...

    (Thanks to kohai for checking.)

Sorry :(  I was waiting on complete confirmation on this, and i now have it.

The app doesn't support pure touch screen phones and there are no plans for this.

I am sorry about this :(

can u tell why the same app won't install on my nokia n97 mini?

after it asks to trust this program it says missing vital attributes (or something)

As well as the app not running on N8 and mobiles running the new symbian^3 OS (nokia's observation), I find that the chess pieces and buttons don't appear on the chess board viewed directly on the website either! Might be a java runtime problem so I'm told, but useless for playing chess on the mobile at all. Had no luck through facebook either...

Yes, that's exactly right. So, in other words, there is no way at all of playing our moves using Nokia N8. That's a shame, really. I hope this is fixed, one way or another. I don't know if it's Nokia's fault or chess.com's fault, but it's really disappointing...

I agree with you totally, it is very disappointing. It is not good enough for services with high subscriber numbers to rely on just apple and 'Droid apps. There are other touch screen services out there on quality phones! I'm on holiday soon and will have to suspend all games, because if I don't take a laptop and have wifi access I now cannot play!
