Hi All,

I have been playing chess for years and never bothered to learn how the moves are tracked by the number/letter system.I have tried but seem to get confused on some of them where can i learn it better?

Thankyou for your time and efforts!

Good memory jog Melanerz ... I haven't played for a while. Can you remind me how to "castle" using the browser? I thought I needed to move the King to the appropriate square but I tried in a game a few minutes ago and the computer ignored me (probably because I hadn't done it right).Wink

DrBobR - you've got the right idea.  Possibly you were castling through check, a piece had already moved, or some other violation of castle eligibility.

I like http://www.logicalchess.com/hcc/scholastics/tutorials/notation.html. You will find plenty of good sites if you just google "chess notation".

Ah, what would we ever do without google Smile
