Thank you, Timothy. Just did that. Still says "no photo" next to my other information on my Public Profile page. I know my picture is somewhere, because I can see it on "My Home" page..... Strange.....

i have found that if i upload a picture to my profile page ( i change it alot ) that the old picture ( and in your case the original gray non-picture ) will NOT also load to the board play page ( little picture to the left of the board ) unless i first hit the

refresh button on first coming to the play board page...try this..

that is what I meant when I was saying try the refresh button thanks for the clarification

This is a problem with individual user's browsers -- though it seems enough people have this problem that chess.com might want to consider how they handle the pictures.

The first time a typical browser encounters a picture, it stores that picture in a local cache. The next time it encounters the same image, it loads it from its local cache rather than downloading it from the website. This makes the page load faster, but if the site hosting the picture has changed the picture (but not the name), the browser is at risk of displaying the old picture instead of the new one.

One way to ensure that you are seeing the most updated pictures is to clear your local cache (this is why Erik suggested ctrl-R, this is the keyboard shortcut to clear the cache on the most popular browsers). However, just because you see or don't see the updated picture doesn't mean everybody else does.

Maybe chess.com should rename the avatar picture every time a user changes their picture?

One more thing.... When I hit "Control R", my e-mail in-box shows up, as for "read mail". So I am not even sure CTRL R is responding. I have tried a refrsh button. I will do it again, as some of have suggested, when I log on to play next time....
