Offer Draw, Lose on Time

I'm currently in a chess match and my opponent has offered a draw in the chat box. I agreed and formally offered a draw WITHOUT taking my turn. After thinking about this, I realized that he can now just wait out the 48 hours and I'll lose on time. Is this correct?

Correct. Wait for 24 hours (or 36, depending on how often you log on) and if he hasn't accepted, then make another move. Hopefully he's not trying to be sneaky though.

I can't make another move, I have to wait for him to reply

Pretty sure you can. But I think it will withdraw your offer automatically. Make your move before time runs out and ask for a draw in the chat. Some people don't see the draw offer.

Something does seem wrong here.  While stopping the clock when a draw offer is made would obviously be ripe for abuse it certainly shouldn't prevent you from making a move once you've made the draw offer for this reason.  You should be able to make your move and retain your offer of a draw.

hmm... sounds like a problem that I dont have too often... Mostly on account that I usually lose before this becomes a problem...

You have to make a move along with the draw offer.
