It occurred to me today (after some 975 exercises to date) that I don't actually know the difference between a 'pass' and a 'fail' for a given exercise.
Today, I got a "Failed 56% | +4" shortly followed by a "Passed 46% | -7." Apparently, passing or failing has nothing to do with whether you score higher or lower than 50% or with whether your tactics rating rises or falls.
I care more about my rating and percentage score than the "pass"/"fail" label, but if anyone can shed light, I'd be interested in hearing how the system does this part of the evaluation. Cheers!
You only pass a tactic if you get all the moves right. If you take a long time to pass though, your score will be lower. This is inline with how tactics trainer should work. Taking a long time indicates this tactic was difficult for you.
Ahhhhh, getting all the moves right - of course. Thanks, Loomis!
