I can imagine two reasons:

1) error in database.

2) breach in tactics trainer server that allows to substitute the user id to have an unlimited access ;)

I can say it again. I am not tricking anyhow with tacktics trainer! I am not tricking with you as well.  What do you think about when you say such words? You are trying to insult me? Ok (of course not ok), then try to think over and find any reason why I started this topic if I tell not a truth?

I paid for a membership especially to have an access to tactics trainer. I spend hours using it! It was very annoing several times in one day to start with easy problem with rating 600-800. So I asked for a help. I spent some time to help chess.com to caught the problem. I didn't see other problems between 1378(-27) and 1266 (+63) in my list. (Screenshot will not help if it is more comfortable for you to not believe). And you say me that I am a cheater?! Is it a support of chess.com?!!!

I can teach you how to communicate with user. First of all, don't tell him that  there is no problem when he is away from your site!

Jippo:

Jay isn't saying you are cheating. He is just trying to show you that the large drops in ratings is due to skipping problems. We have logs that track all of this activity. He is just trying to explain what you are experiencing. You asked why it was happening and he is trying to give you the explanation (even though he isn't our best company communicator - he is an amazing programmer, not a great customer service person Wink).

I assure you we don't have anybody spoofing accounts or breached server issues. And from what we can tell from the logs, there are no DB issues. That said, we are always willing to investigate and in this case we tried to provide the explanation using the server data.

We appreciate your support of Chess.com - sorry that there was a miscommunication. Please let me know if I can help you further or if a problem persists.

Thanks!

Erik

Erik:

Thanks for the answer!

You  show me your logs but made wrong conclusion. The reason of rating drop is the failed problems in your log. I see. But you did not find why these problems were wrote on my account. I did not see or try them.

You trust in your logs (this is a finale for investigation;). But I see that your logs are wrong. Even two of your logs (internal and that I see in tactics trainer home page) were different - at the time of my report I did not see fake recods between mismatched records (but lately I saw the list entirely felt by fake problems I didn't ever see). Your investigation doesn't show that only I have such problem. I read some posts in chess.com forum where other users also report the strange behaviour of rating calculation.

I still hope that you will find the reason and resolve the bug. While you prefer to think that this is only my problem I (and not only I) will definately suffer from this bug in future - it will not disappear itself without your intervention. Now I don't know how I can help you to make it.

Regards,

Jippo

Jay/Erik, would the Apache logs conclusively show what requests his browser sent (eg, page refreshes, only problem answers, etc.) around the time of the 'skipped problems'? Failing that, might they reveal any pecularities in his web client that might be causing him alone to face such problems? You guys know your site so these are probably dumb questions--you don't have to answer--just some thoughts. :)

likeforest:

I thought about mistake of my browser. But I see many fake problems in my list that are not only failed but also passed. I can not assume that my buggy browser (firefox 2.0.0.14) solves some problem itself ;)

DocBerco:

How do you know that? Magic? I am really losing hair ;))))

I was wrong. I've just checked all 7 passed problems from the available list of 25 - these are mine arounded with a lot of fake failed problems.

Eric/Jay, I think likeforest is right. It could be due to my browser or connection. But I did not build the executable with exclusive feature - I use the downloaded one. Maybe the reason is in the router? Now I realize that this "bug" occured only when I played from working place. From home - always clear. I will try to use another browser and compare.

Anyway - thanks for support!

Jay, I'm sorry if I understand you too sharp.

It's not just the tactics trainer exhibiting this problem, i've been getting a periodic drop in my main rating every time I lose a few games.
