Hi... didn't know how to get the message to the person(s) in charge, but I would like to know if I can get my 24 hours/1 day of vacation time back.  We had a power outtage yesterday throughout the ENTIRE San Diego Co., thus I was unable to access the internet to make chess moves.

Please let me know if this is possible.. I hope it is, as I don't have much vacation time and would not like to lose the little I have for no fault of my own.

    Thank you for your consideration!

Hope you get something but I doubt they will do anything for such a small scale.

I READ THAT THE CAUSE WAS ATTRIBUTED TO HUMAN ERROR.  EXACTLY WHAT WAS NOT MADE KNOWN TO READERS OF THE BULLETIN.  HOPE THEY DOC THE PERSON'S WAGES FOR AT LEAST A DAY.   LOST LEISURE FACILITIES AS IN YOUR CASE SYLVIA IS FRUSTRATING, BUT WHAT ABOUT POTENTIAL SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES OF SUCH NEGLIGENCE? TRAFFIC LIGHT FAILURE e.g.

    ANYWAY S. KEEP SMILING.

Yeah, vacation time is not a big deal; I'd be more worried about the people who didn't have auto-vacation and ended up losing their games.

Or those who were on life support at the time....

    UPDATE:

Hello everyone and thank you for your replies!

A Good friend once told me to try not to expect anything and if you get something, you will be more grateful.  Well, I have reason to be very grateful today, as the Support Staff decided to honor my request and actually went above and beyond by giving me a little extra time (which I desperately needed, by the way)!  I always thought there was something special about this site and now I know for sure - it's the people and it starts with the people on top!  Thank you very much chess.com support staff and a special thank you to Blackenne for delivering the great news.  Smile

*Please know that all of the hospitals have back-up generators for those on critical life-saving equipment.  Though, that doesn't mean it wasn't inconvenient for the staff and patients at the time, considering the resources had to be used for the most critically ill and for purposes of maintaining basic operations... some 'luxuries' such as lighting and air-conditioning were not available. So yes, my issue pales in comparison to some other more serious issues.... just one more reason to be very thankful!

Del - yes, it was human error that caused this problem.  But humans are not infalliable and if it were truly a 'mistake' and not negligence, then I feel bad for the individual as surely they have got to feel horrible too.  Oh... and you always bring a smile to my face!  Smile
