After playing Chess.com for a few months, I changed my settings to allow 2 Chess.com greeter games. The problem is that the games are allowed to start when I am not on-line. I have played 21 "greeter" games and not one has been played to an ending. (except the greeter game I played when I joined)
This is the typical "greeter" game. I log on and find that I have been assigned to an unrated game. My opponent has either made one move or is waiting for me to make my first move. After I make my first move, the game is ended when my opponent never makes a second move. I look at their profile and they have not played any other games.
I would recommend only assigning greeting games to those greeters who are currently on-line. I think the new players assume that the game is going to be played right then and they leave the site because of frustration, after I never move.
Just something I noticed.

Yes, thank you for your feedback. I believe the greeter games are assigned with priority to the most active greeters who have the fastest time per move.
Sadly, I have also experienced this same scenario. Even when I make quick greeter game moves the new members frequently abandon the game. But for the new members who do stick around for the greeter games it is an important feature to welcome them to the Chess.com community.

I have found this. I have signed up to be a greeter and out of 15 games only one has come back to make a second move

Yeah, it's a shame.

As part of the recent site redesign, has anything been done (i.e., attempted) to address this problem? I would very much like to be a greeter, but my past experiences have been extremely frustrating, for the reasons discussed above.
One thought would be to _require_ a new member to watch (or at least to link into) the chess.com orientation video before they can be assigned a greeter game. Is this currently being done? If not, is this something that can be implemented fairly easily?

I don't recall seeing anything about a greeter game when I joined recently. Would I have needed to sign up for one?

"Prior to the redesign, when someone joined the site they'd see in their online chess page 'click here to play' then they'd be paired up with their greeter.
Post redesign that message is now shown as part of their welcome message in their homepage inbox. If they don't activate it from there, they won't be assigned to a greeter, hence less greeter games are being created."
