I had no idea you even wanted to play. Of course, I don't mind it if you undo. Btw, in live chess games, is it possible to take moves back? Not a good form, I know:). If it is possible, how is it done?

Only really ouch if it was in a tournament. Otherwise, while it is included in your statistics, there is no rating change.

Helen the game in question is in a team match.

Ozzie as a matter of fact I took a 62 point hit in my ratings.  But that's not important.  The main thing is I don't want the team to lose due to my stupidity.

FYI this is the reply from chess.com support via contact:

"I'm sorry. Unfortunately this is not possible because this is a team match. There is no way for us to re-instate team matches."

Darn man, that's bad, but the team won't hate you for an honest mistake. Smile BTW, I'm on your team.

Isn't there a pop-up that says "Are you sure you want to resign this game?", and a "Submit Move" button for when you move? Maybe you'd like to have Erik send a GM over to your house for a consult every time you click a piece.

simsim- There IS a cancel button. You have to hit submit move before a move is made.

How do you resign by mistake ?  Doesnt it ask if you really want to resign as a check ?  When I resign I am always asked that. It also asks do you really want to offer a draw and do you really want to accept a draw .

Also, there's something wrong with the story -- games aren't rated with such few moves.

In your settings you can choose to turn on whether you require a submit button or not.  If you are not able to use the cancel button it is probably because you are set up for touch move:

MY HOME -> ACCOUNT -> ONLINE CHESS SETTINGS -> Move Preferences: Confirmation

You can only use cancel after you've made your move but before you hit submit.  There has to be a point of no return at some point and the submit button is it.

I believe it... resigning by mistake. Unfortunately it seems like it's a hassle to get those rating points back. I wouldn't worry about it too much - just keep playing.

xD
