Screen refreshing is slow

After I make a move, I get an hour glass for about 60 seconds and finally my board refreshes. If my opponent made a move, I get the hour glass for another 60 seconds and finally the board refreshes. So, it takes at least 2 minutes between moves even if we are making instant decisions and moving immediately. Is this normal? If not, is there something I can do to speed up these screen refreshes?

Which browser are you using? Sometimes the Safari browser can cause some problems. You should try the Mozilla FireFox browser as that one works problem free.

Thank you Matt. I am using Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 6. I use it because that is what came on my PC. How do I get these other browsers?

For Mozilla FireFox browser - http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html

This should most likely fix your problem.

Well, hopefully (and maybe Matt can back me up here), you won't have to wait too much longer to have live chess on this site!  I think they said in less than 10 days...is that right?  Again, don't quote me on the timeframe, but it is coming up soon.

Hmm, seems like you have a strong internet connection. I don't think that is the problem then but maybe the South African servers could be a bit slow.

Yeah, live chess will be coming quite soon. Erik and the team are working very hard on it. So hopefully once that comes you will not have to visit the MSN Zone anymore.  Wink

You are still learning as we all are. I sometimes move too fast without looking at all the possibilities. I think you do this more often than I do. That is why I beat you more often than you beat me..
