Site redesign and iOS 5.1

I post mostly in Open Discussion, and have found the update utterly useless. So far I have noticed that it totally messes up spell checking (concatenation of words where there should be none), long posts have their text go behind the buttons, and it's just generally painful to use. The long post thing only appears to happen with replies but the spellcheck issue is easy to replicate: type something, delete one character, continue typing. It's as if this hasn't even been tested on what is the most widely used handsets.

Agree! Smile

Perhaps we should picture this update as stage one in a road construction project.

The thing about road construction is that they don't let you drive on it until it's done.

Well, unfortunately, road construction projects in Texas can take years. So they section off bits and pieces of the road with cones and traffic and road construction people are within inches of each other. So we use the roads. Road construction is a dangerous job here!

We are not amused!

The final result of which will be a bridge that crosses the street, solely for the safety of idiots who don't know how to use the crosswalk.

To clarify what I'm talking about, Google-search the bridge on Wadswarth Boulevard, just north of Bowles Avenue in Littleton, Colorado.

The new layout is as unreliable as road construction under this government administration.

i appreciate your membership and your input. thank you. however, we aren't going to change the site back to the old design (nor are we going to make the whole site look like your design: http://i.imgur.com/GwYaC.png ). i think time would be better spent making specific suggestions for how to improve the new design.

thank you,

erik

Q: Why do you have to show tactic trainer and mentor ratings?

Is nothing private?

P.S.: I have no problem with the new format. As you've said, it will just take some time for things to settle in.

Only a cute advice to you :

if you need suggestions , then start with it "before" settled your new one not after !!!

Thank you everyone for your comments here! We've read through nearly every comment and are working hard to improve things.

In an effort to consolidate all of the redesign feedback in one place, I've create a new thread here: http://www.chess.com/forum/view/community/new-site-design-feedback and encourage you to post any productive comments there. I'm archiving this thread so we can continue the conversation in one new thread.

Thank you!
