I recently missed a draw offer in an online game -- I didn't see it until reading through alerts later. Granted, it was my oversight, but it would be useful for there to be a more robust notice on the game-board screen when a draw offer has been made in online chess. When I am looking through my online games, I am focused on the board and pieces when I pull a game screen up. That's where the notice would be most useful for me.
i agree i offten offer draw and wonder if the other player missed it like i have
True. But it would be quite annoying when faced with a troll who would keep offering you a draw every move!
Yeah, maybe. But it shouldn't be something you need to respond to, just more visible.
I've played in vote chess games where all 12 players missed a draw offer.
Agreed -- Ideally, there would be some sort of "alert" border around the chessboard that would increase visibility without being too distracting. Of course, I don't know how much of a code change that would require ...
I broached this subject a while back in a forum discussion. I suggested having a screen come up (or something similar) that would mention a draw offer, BUT also having in your settings a toggle where that option could be turned off if you didn't want it.
Also, I am shocked draws aren't marked in notation, as prescribed by FIDE rules. It would be quite useful, when playing a large numver of games, to know whether a draw has been declined recently, or whether it's alright to offer one.
