What can be done about a player who disappears in the midst of game, without any comment or message and doesn't come back on to finish the match even 3 days later. I am not offering a draw or resignation, I want the winTongue out. I know at times connections are lost (I have satellite Internet- Heavy storms shut me down) and other issues occur, but 3 days ? Come on...................

Just ignore. Remember, if the player does not move within the limit he/she will loss. Always keep in mind -- any average player with a game seeing of 3 days can make a game 3 x 50 moves + vacation 40 days = 190 days longer. Always be prepared for this and never play again with this player.

Yes, if they annoyed me when I could've won with mate. I'm horrible so mates are special to me.

What I like about Erik is that he has his finger of the pulse of the Chess.com community. He knows us, understands us, and, yes, loves us.

I think the punch in the stomach will surely discourage disappearing from a game  Smile

Yes, violence always is the answer, or at least it gives the news people something to say/write. Actually some CHESS sites penalize you for dropping out of a game without resigning or offering a draw. But silly me,  I should have went for the abdominal contusions.Laughing

I have played on several different sites, and the problem of poor sprotsmanship when you are dead lost and the problem of cheating are both virtually lmpossible to remedy so i have learned to just not play those people again. You will get the win that you deserve if they refuse to continue, it make just take a little longer.

Thanks Markle for the reply- I guess part of the issue is it does take days. I think you should just resign or offer a draw if appropriate. I see the person I was playing played someone else yesterday. He has A LOT of unfinished games, I will surely cross him off my list-Cool
