Hello,
I checked last Thursday (from the iPhone app... not sure if this is going to be important) and although I was about to run out of vacation (Friday or Saturday), I was listed in my games as having between 5 days and 11 days to make my moves.
So, alright, I decided to come back to chess.com and start to play again after this break on Monday and the 5+ days should even carry me even mid-week should something happen.
Now, all my games are lost...
What's up with that?
Thanks,
Alex

The last 4 games you lost on time were all 3 days per move. Were you just looking at the games where it was already your move?
It was the first time I was taking a vacation so I really didn't know what to expect. But in the iPhone app, I had three games in which it was shown that I had 5 days to play and one game 11 days (in that last game the opponent was him/herself on vacation). Also, until I open the app today, the badge was saying that I had 4 on-going games...
I thought it was normal and somewhat logical. Now it might just be a bug with the iPhone interface, I don't know.
Out of the four games I had one lost, one won, and two more or less even but I don't care so much about the losses - only a bit. ;-)
I am annoyed because: (1) it takes me out of a tournament; (2) it is marring my timeout record and this might keep me out of a tournament in which a % Timeout limit is set.
Thanks.
I've never seen the iPhone app. Perhaps someone who has - can explain what the display shows - to avoid this type of mix-up.
How about in a web browser? What is shown next to the game: only 3 days (for a 3-day game)?
Are you using your iPhone at the moment?
The Current Games listing in a PC browser doesn't show the time per move - only the Time Left. The games with least time are shown first. Is it possible you missed the first page of games?
I am using the browser now but earlier today I first tried to access it through the iPhone.
I meant the time left. I had something like (I don't remember the formatting and i can't simulate it either since - doh! - I don't have any vacation left):
Player 1 - 5 days
Player 2 - 5 days
Player 3 - 5 days
Player 4 - 11 days
All those games were 3-day games. I thought that the server added the regular 3 days to the time it took my opponents to play their move (which seems fair). The 11 days being due to Player 4 being on vacation: maybe 8 + 3 days...
The Time Left should never be shown as greater than the Time Per Move. When people are on vacation, the Time Left just sticks at the same value until they get back.
Thanks for the input, artfizz.
Anybody on staff care to comment and/or explain why it appeared as if I had plenty of time but then didn't (and as a result timed out)?
