So does it count as vacation abuse to go on vacation for 4 weeks when you're down a queen for a knight against an opponent who's high enough rated to win easily with that extra material?
If the person keeps going on vacation yes that's probably abuse.
no is not, is it within his right and he is not breaking any rules and name shame is not the way to go here.
If the person has vacation to use, they can use it any way they want. Its not abuse to use available vacation time.
the only solution you can effectively use is to refuse to play that person again, block them.
Well, I wasn't planning to do anything about it... just take the free win when she inevitably times out. But when I set my own vacation last night, one of the messages warned that using vacation time to delay a losing position is abuse and can get you in trouble. I only included the opponent's name so the admins here could see the situation and take appropriate action.
As indicated here the game has to be hopelessly lost.
I suggest hopelessly lost would be a forced mate or something like K and Q vs. K.
As well if they are delaying all games the same way they are not intentionally delaying your game.
Does site keep any record of complaints or just go by impressions?
yes xqsme, I believe that there are records of complaints about particular users - and staff look into those. moderators, and other users should not see the complaints, so please keep those private to management - should you file one.
In my definition, vacation abuse is when :
"a player is playing so many games that he has to take a vacation(may be a day/or a week) once in every 3 chess-days to keep out from timing from almost one third the games and keep tormenting opponents by playing a 3 day/move game at an average rate of 5 days/move."
lol good definition hsbgowd.
Thank you. That is how, my current games are going on.
My opponent swore it would take me 90 days or more to win the game. ( I had mate in three) He waited until 79 minutes were left then he put himself on vacation. Is this abuse?
I am 1 or 2 moves away from check mate and my opponent just went on vacation. I am relatively new to chess.com. What does vacation mean under status?
There is one thing all of you may not know: when a premium member is in time trouble, the site automatically shifts all of his games into vacation mode as, I guess, a sort of favor for having supported it. (I will not, in this post, comment upon the fairness of this procedure.)
The member must then cancel vacation mode in order to resume any of his games. If, however, he makes no move in the game in which he is in time trouble, his games will once again be shifted to vacation mode whenever an opponent makes a move in any of his other games. If he wishes to intentionally lose on time, he would need to ask the staff to cancel the automat.
Eventually you will win. Vacation time runs out...I don't see what the problem is. The vacation system is fair - you accrue it and use it just like paid leave from a job. If someone is using it excessively - then eventually they will run out and that means no more vacation naughty-naughties.
it depends. If it's a legitament excuse (i.e. away on vacaion) then no, if it's because he/she lost, yes.,
