I was playing ---- when he lost on time... yet it somehow showed a draw.  Are there hacks that are exploiting the system?  Why are not players like ---- banned?

It's just the rules of chess...

The game gave you a message telling you why it was drawn, why don't you search what it means?

i am familar with what is a drawn game.  When time runs out, it is NOT a drawn game.  There were no aspects of it that could have shown it was drawn.  Maybe he has a hack and you do too.

    Doesn't know the rules.

Argues with someone who does know the rules.

Insults and accuses of cheating the guy who tries to help.

Yeah good luck, you're a pleasant person.

But seriously, put some effort into learning the rules before any more cheating accusations. Otherwise you'll be complaining about en passant next and making yourself look even more silly.

This is true, unless the side that is "winning" on time does not have enough material to checkmate his opponent, such as for hypothetical example having a lone king against king and two queens.

In that case, the game is drawn.

    Here's the game.

He has 2 queens and is about to mate you: +1

He ran out of time: -1

You managed your time better: +1

You do not have even a single pawn left and could never win, even if he sacrificed both queens: -1

    It's a fair system.

Apparently he has all the answers guys. So why bother telling him the truth?

It's the Therapist Fallacy: belief that you are competent enough to help.
