practicality of 1 minute speed chess

After playing so many games with long time controls, I like to play fast chess to relax and have fun. I am sure most chess players have tried to sit down with a clock set to one minute for each player and play a game of chess. In my experience, the games are not very practical: usually the person that makes the most senseless moves wins because his opponent's time runs out. So when I joined chess.com and explored live chess, I was highly skeptical about their bullett chess. However, I have learned that one minute chess is much more practical and fun online than over the board for many reasons.

    1. In online play after making a move you do not have to waste time reaching over to hit your clock: the time automatically starts for your opponent as soon as you release your piece
    2. When you scramble for time online your pieces cannot get knocked over or misplaced, cutting down on wasted time
    3. You cannot make an illegal move, such as not moving out of check, on chess.com live chess, so games do not end quickly and stupidly with a king capture
    4. If you have your preferences set correctly, you can automatically promote to a queen, which saves you from losing time trying to reach for a queen in over the board games
    5. Once you have some practice, and assuming you have this feature turned on, you can actually make moves without losing time at all, meaning you can still mate your opponent with only seconds left

All of these reasons make one minute chess on chess.com very reasonable, and it is probably the most intense chess I have ever played. Live chess players are also very friendly, and you can always find a game in under a minute. I would suggest trying live chess, and if you want a challenge, one minute speed chess.

Whether OTB or online, 1 min games are anything but chess.  It's fun, but definitely not relaxing.

I don't know the last time you have played bullet chess on chess.com, but I haven't had any problems recently. I think an occasional lag is unavoidable, just because people's internets are not the same speeds. Also, I think that cheap tricks when playing bullet should be expected on any site, that's why 1 minute speed chess is so intense/fun.
