does anyone know why people put in open seeks in live chess and then when people with a certain rating accept the game they abort it and send in a new open seek.   why don't they just put in a seek where only people with a certain rating can accept?   this happens a lot to me but maybe it's because i've got such a bad live chess rating

I have aborted games like that but it was because I got an important phone call just as the game was about to start and I knew I wouldn't be able to concentrate. Once the call was over I made another seek. Same thing happened once when my wife came home earlier than expected and she always has to talk alot when she comes home. Another time there was a lot of noise outside the house and I wanted to see what the commotion was. I can think of lots of situations where this could occur. I don't let it bother me. Simple.

of course live chess has such problems, but it depends on player whether he plays for rating or for the sake of its peculiar enjoyment which involves thrill n excitement...pain n joy side by side....player can play as per his style n inclination...e.g. i prefer 1 to 3 min. time limit....it saves me mostly unexpected losses due to disconnection or phone call or by some visitor etc...if sometime it happens player must expect it in advance...as far as seeking games for certain rating it also goes with player's real intentions or purpose or whatsoever....my opinion is that every player has certain level, he or she cannot surpass this level by doing this or that good or bad....i suggest one must try to play with both colors, sometime seeking game (but play it whether it comes from low rated or higher rated player) , sometime accepting others' game offer in order to taste the real speed chess flavour n found his or her's true strength....good luck
