Bad bug in code?

Or not? Maybe not. My opponent's time run out but I still wasn't winner. It was draw! SurprisedSmile That is new for me. You always learn something new in chess.

C-C-Coalback

No, it's not a bug. If you don't have sufficient material to mate the opponent & your opponent runs out of time, it's a draw.

petrikeckman

I don't think so. I have only King left since move 71. So he had 86-71=15 moves time to make mate.

Robert_New_Alekhine

Just because he doesn't have perfect techineque doesn't mean he won't mate you;

AutisticCath

No. You were the one with insufficient material. If your opponent runs out of time and you only have your king left, this is not a win for you, this is a draw due to insufficient material. Every chess website has this in its programming. It ain't a bug.

etc2000chess

The program assumes you took away all of your opponent's pieces. If you have nothing to checkmate them, it's a draw!

AutisticCath

Normally, in situations where there are bishops of opposite colors, both sides agree to a draw.

etc2000chess

WTF? Black is up a queen and a knight -_-

AutisticCath

Yeah but white missed two opportunities to give checkmate.

etc2000chess

Which means nothing.

Lagomorph

Nice to see you back NE7. You should have used your time away to learn chess.

etc2000chess

JMB2010

I knew what this would be about before I even clicked on it.

etc2000chess

Good for you.

I don't care.

AutisticCath

etc2000chess--it's a game of three check. First color to get in three checks wins!

etc2000chess

WOW. I just played that today on lichess.org
