Bullet tactics

The longer I play bullet the more diffrences I see between bullet and normal chess. Some people say its not even chess - I wouldn't go that far. It is still the same game same basic rules apply but because of extremely short time players need to employ unusual tactics:

1.Unusal crazy openings (but you have to know them well - if not you can become their victim yourself!) - just to try and confuse opponent from the start.

2.Complicate position as much as you can.

3.During game you need to develop some kind of plan - don't move aimlessly.

4.When opponent is short of time checking his king usually works perfect.

Ok I'm just a bullet beginner (played only about 500 games so far) I would like to see what other maybe more experienced players have to say about it.

Just please don't say 'bullet isn't real chess so it's not woth talking about' because that kind of attitude doesn't bring anything new. It isn't as serious as real live chess but it is tremendous fun for many of us.

What to say ?

"2.Complicate position as much as you can."

I am not sure that this would be good advice unless you are either certain that you understand the position better than the opponent (such certainty is rare on the Internet), or have more time. If you are down on time, you probably want to simplify the position.

just search the forums for "how to improve in bullet chess". The OP was more studious there.

Bullet is the only live chess I play as it is fun, quick and an easy beak from work.I find that checking a lot is good, as well as trying the mate in 4 as that has worked several times when opponents play carelessly and don't spot the obvious. My style of play is attritional by nature but I agree that pursuing certain pieces - especially with attacking pawns, confuses opponents, makes them slow down and thus lose. Also, have your next move hovered over the square you intend to put the piece on so that your moves are really fast, make sure you play with a decent mouse and decent internet connection! Not having them has made me lose a few times

Ok, I just checked posts from the past about bullet and all I could find was some worthless crap about premoves. What I really have in mind is tactics in bullet meaning what kind of openings you prefer to use, what positions do you prefer (closed, open) - that kind of stuff. I know that there are many players who like bulet but I guess they are just busy playing not posting... can't blame them. Oh well... going back to live chess myself now.

I've found a fair number of players, when playing bullet, have predesigned opening systems involving very passive pawn formations (you see a lot of g3, e3, d3, b3, etc. to save time).  In reality, I find this strategy to be very suspect, and when playing against it, I love to set up territorial stakes in the center.  Your opponent can quickly find themselves in difficulties, and, even if they can defend against this pressure, are forced to spend extra time deciding on how best to respond.  In short, the time saved early does not justify the time that will most likely be spent later on.

In short, even beyond checking, I think a central tenant is to play aggressive, and take any opening offered.  After all, it's a lot easier to attack then to defend, and in bullet, this notion is often decisive.

And who cares if you find it "tremendous fun" ? There is any number of things that could be  "tremendous fun" and are not chess.

Did i ask you to care??? I asked people who actually like to play bullet to share their views. If you don't have anything constructive to say please don't post here.

Oh sorry, I failed to notice that you were a monkey.

I like bullet. :)  Its a fun way to relax a bit after a day at work.

I don't usually play normal openings, I seem to find that much harder in bullet, I just try to get piece play, and start pushing pawns. Usually works. If your opponent is obvious where they move then its much much easier to pre-move them.
