Just played a game, and got two queens promoted whereas the other player just had his king left.

We both had time enough to play until the mate, which would inevitable happen the next seconds.

After been playing for like 70 moves, it's really annoying that the game is drawn just as I am about to win! 

Obviously you didn't have enough time, seeing as you ran out.

In this game what did they mean by insufficient material. Clearly white had more than enough material.

Yeah well...Qhf2 would have mated right before you ran out of time..

Black ran out of time, white didn't have enough material to mate. Draw.

Surely if you run out the clock your opponent automatically wins regardless of pieces left on the board.

No, you need enough material to mate. Just a pawn will do.

Simply put, you cannot win with just a king.
