So I was about to win a game (like mate in a couple) and then the live chess gets disconnected and it was gone when I reconnected. I have had this happen many times but this time I started moving my mouse around and clicking on pieces and it still became disconnected. How do I fix this is really annoying

Unfortunately once you are disconnected from a game in the Live Chess there is no way to reconnect to it.

I would recommend that you try clearing your browser cache/temporary internet files (http://support.chess.com/index.php?_m=troubleshooter&_a=steps&troubleshootercatid=1&parentid=0) as this may help to correct any connection issues you are experiencing.

Also at http://www.chess.com/livechess you will find a notice at the top of the page which recommends a web browser which will give you the most stable connection to the Live Chess.

If you don't use Internet Explorer then you should be fine. I would suggest you use FireFox, i haven't experienced any lag or any disconnections after i changed to FireFox.

If IE is the problem, then Live Chess could be eliminating many potential subscribers.

I disconnect about 10% of my games using Firefox.  It is very frustrating.

I get disconnected all the time and it really frustrates me. My rating was about 80 points higher before I started getting disconnected all the time. And yesterday something very strange happened. I was ahead on time and material in two of my games and right when the clock of opponents hit zero, it said that I, and not my opponents, had lost due to disconnection!! Right when THEIR clocks hit zero. I find this to be a strange and annoying coincidence. I use Firefox all the time and I still get disconnected quite frequently. Is there a solution to this problem?

I'm a Firefox user as well, and though the disconnections aren't unbearable, they're quite common. How long is live chess expected to remain a beta?

Does your opponent get notified that it is a disconnection and not an abandonment?  Wouldn't want people thinking I was being rude.  I don't think the browser makes a difference, Firefox and IE have the same disconnect rates for me.

I use Chrome and it never disconnects me. The only time I have been disconnected was when I was using a wireless router and the signal got lost; but that's not a browser or live chess problem :p
