Live Chess and Temporary Disconnection

Players plagued with temporary disconnection are doubly handicapped when participating in a Live Chess tournament.

First, the clocking system reduces the time left to play for a player suffering temporary disconnection by subtracting the time consumed by the temporary disconnection.

Second, the clocking system increases the time left to play for the opponent by adding the time consumed in the temporary disconnection.

What is troubling is that temporary disconnection occurs at random.

One may encoounter no disconnection for several games.  But suddenly it will show up later.

Then one can finish a session of several games without being plagued by temporary disconnection.

But when one goes back for another session, temporary disconnection shows up.

What this means is that in a Live Chess tournament, a player who is plagued by temporary disconnection will never complete the event without losing one or more games caused by temporary disconnection. As these games are rated, the rating points lost by the player and the rating points won by his opponent are not a true measure simply because of the intrusion of the factor of temporary disconnection.

I suffers from temporary disconnection a lot on this site. It just depends on the network which I can't predict precisely.
