No rating change for short mate?

    Hello,

I just now played a game on live chess that ended with what was basically a scholar's mate. However, after this short mate, there was no rating change for me regardless of the fact that I won the game. I feel like that shouldn't be the case and I'm posting this topic here to point out this possible bug.

If on the other hand this is a feature that it supposed to be there, please aware me of that (and possibly point out the reason for it).

My understanding is a minimum number of moves must be made in order for a rating change to occur.  I have seen different answers in the forums regarding the exact number of moves; usually people say 3 or 4 moves.  There must be some authoritative source on the site somewhere, but I cannot find it.

You achieved checkmate on White's third move.  Perhaps this is why no rating change occurred.

Its written into the code, not to have a rating change for games fewer than like 5 moves.

    Fool's mate, not Scholar's.

But the game is rated and sure enough your rating doesn't go up despite only a 100-point difference...

Hmm that's good to know. I guess you don't "earn" the rating change from games that short? Or is there another reason for it?

For live chess in a rated game  -  white has to have made its 4th move before ratings are affected.

It doesn't make sense to get 100 rating points and rise from 1200 to 1300 just because your oponent was stupid enough to be mated in 4 moves.

thats more or less it. It covers all quick game victories, including timeouts and resignations. The reasoning is that not enough moves have been made to determine a good quality rating

no no no, a win is a win.  it had to be a provisional thing or something.  the server won't punish you for a quick mate.
