When I lose a game I had in my hands I feel very angry. Then I feel the need to play again but I make many mistakes and lose many  games.I think play angry diminishes the strength of your games.  My question is how they do to prevent this type of situation? If you lose a game like that is good to play again or is it better to stop playing? I only play live chess with 5'. I appreciate your opinions and sorry my English Thanks

that's why i like extremely short or extremely long chess.  both are relatively easy to recover from.

I personally say, "Take it easy. Always do 3 games a day no matter what for 6 days a week. Etcetera!!"

It is just a gane. Lose one, so what. Maintain that mindset and you'll never play angry.

So is your thought process after losing what should have been a won game "Now I've got to play another so I can redeem myself."?  If so, I'd say that may not be the best mindset to have, since your mindset going into the second game is influenced by what happened in the first game and you're playing a different opponent (I assume).  I don't seem to experience that, so when I lose, if I still want to play I play another immediately after unless I want to analyze a certain thing in the game.  Maybe your best strategy would be to take a short break in between games.

Sounds like you're playing two games at once--the current game and the previous one.

Also looks like you've identified a weakness, i.e., playing (and losing) while you're angry about a prior game.

I kind of think you know what to do.  Stop playing until your head clears.

For what it's worth, I sometimes do the same thing.  5 losses later I wind up angrier than when I blew the first game.  lol  :)

Thank you very much for your advice and opinions.  When I feel frustrated after losing a game I will stop playing.

I'm not going to discuss whether the anger plays a role or not, but statistically it is better to stop playing against certain opponent if you lose the first game, and to continue playing after you win the first game.

Losing/winning one game is enough sign that the opponent is most probably be stronger or weaker.

People often think that they are just unlucky when they lost a positionally won game. Imo, it takes even stronger skill to win a lost game (thus your opponent might probably be stronger).

Also, you have to know that every players have their bad days. What I mean here is that there are moments where you cannot play at your best (after staying up late, fight with others, unhealthy condition, drinking medicine, etc). It is not always clear, so it is useful to check your fitness condition by solving puzzles (such as TT or chesstempo). If you failed 3 in a row then you know that you should not push yourself. If you solve 5 puzzles in a row, then you can think of playing your sharpest opening.

Thank you. is very true what you say often happens to me when I lose a game that I thought I would win I need to challenge my opponent In such cases most often easily loses again and my anger and frustration increase and need another rematch and loses again and again and again.  Solving puzzles is a good idea, Thanks
