Pre-move

I've turned it off in my settings, so why does still picking up a piece make a pre-move? I lost a bishop thanks to this today, and though I understand toying with the pieces when it's my move is my fault, and I accept this as my mistake, I'd love to be able to turn off pre-move, especially since I don't know how to cancel while it hasn't been played out yet.

    Thanks :)

I still don't understand the option of turning pre-move off in your settings, when it does not in fact turn off pre-move, just gives a false sense of security.

I have. I've turned it off weeks ago, yet pre-move still works. Why?

Why would you possibly want to turn off premove? Towards the end of the game, pre-move is the difference between winning and losing.

I play long games and therefore rarely encounter extreme time scrambles. My issue is with accidentally making moves while waiting for my opponent to move. That's why I used a setting that exists to turn pre-move off, but it didn't work. Cry

If someone out-plays you in a game of chess, premoves were not the issue. You lost because someone is better than you. That includes making mistakes. If you are running out of time, its because you thought about your moves too long; therefore, you are the less experianced chess player. This would also make you scramble in games played on the board, thus leading you to make the same mistakes.

Premoves are not the panacea. You still need to outplay your opponent!

This actually referred to Live Chess 1, so it's irrelevant now. However, it was never about my opponents using premoves against me. It was me accidentally making pre-moves by picking up a piece, even though I had disabled that in my settings (I'd pick up a piece during my opponent's turn to visualise a variant, and then didn't know where to put it back, place it on a random square, and even though I had disabled the function, that move would be played a minute later, being of course a complete blunder).

Of course, I have long forgotten about this. Your response is two years late :) and not even about my former topic!

Premove is when you can stack or queue moves before the oppondent moves, so I can retake a piece in advance so that if my oppodent takes, my 'premove' will automatically trigger.
