As pathetic as a white knight defending people who aren't even offended?

They are only not offended because you are talking behind their backs ;).

A lot of them do modelling. Why would they be offended with being called pretty?

If you go to Kosteniuk's web site, she has posted her own photo galleries.

Yes, sadly, some women chess players choose to exploit the phenom that spawned this thread ;)...unfortunate, but true.  But it happens in every sport.  There's no reason for Danica Patrick to pose for PlayBoy, and yet...there she is, making money off beta males.

That does not make taking a picture of some teenage girl playing chess at local tourney and then posting it on this thread ethical.  Two wrongs don't make a right.

Yup, very handsome indeed.

Well I didn't see the pictures of those teenagers and yeah that is indecent and they should be removed. However your call for ethics is difficult to take seriously when every one of your arguments is followed by condesending comments and a serious lack of tact. Disagreeing with modeling is fine and you are entitled to your opinions. Bashing them and those that like their work however seems very petty... It's almost as if you put yourself above them hence the term "beta." That''s not ethical at all
DiogenesDue

a serious lack of tact

Ummm...I'm just fighting fire with fire ;).

You're going to tell me that a thread full of photos of young girls (that happen to be playing chess) specifically posted for the purpose of deciding which ones are most suitable for mating (the wrong kind) is tactful?

As for the use of "beta"...I'd be happy to use another term that describes a group of male primates gathering to watch and yearn for females from a distance, if you have one ;)...

TitanCG

Mating? Seriously? And who is yearning? Your choice of words is hardly what I'd call appropriate for the situation. I think you are seriously overreacting if you think any of the things you claim are true here.

Guess that settles it for me. Vesna Rozic+++(Peace be with her always)

One of the prettiest flowers in Caissa's garden.

This is just creepy, and I don't mean Chucky's photo-op.

If you're going to be a good wind-up artist, you've got to resist the urge to make cheesy jokes. :P

Really?  Come on.  The fact that some men/boys are so oblivious is just disturbing.  Show this thread to your sisters, your mother, or your wife, and ask for their honest opinion of guys posting these photos ;).

They may give it and tell you it's creepy (approaching "get in my van" or Donald Trump/Miss USA levels of creepy), or they may placate you by giving the "boys will be boys, I guess..." euphemistic equivalent, which still means in woman-speak "yeah, so many guys are just creepy a lot of the time and don't even know it...but what can we say...it's too rampant to stop anyway".

Some men think some women look good, some women think some men look good, some men think some men look good, some women think some women look good. And some get upset about it :-)

OldChessDog

We went from prettiest to ugliest--maybe I could win the latter ;-)

We started with Alisa Melekhina, who did a very good YouTube video on the c3 Sicilian: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vaTT8jcDf4

Chessxadict45

Sadly I have no idea who any of those people are but what is cartoon called posted by Dewey Oxburger

Lots of people think other human beings look good without posting pictures of said other people to worldwide forums without their permission.  Nice straw man, though.

P.S. Don't bother coming back with anything like "they are titled players and should expect to have their photos distributed as public figures", because that only remains ethical when those photos are posted, say, on a chess blog about their tourney performance, or something like that.  Not when posted to this type of circle-jerk thread ;).

This thread is getting there...it is beginning to cook i see...
