I am having big problems with the live chess application. It often crashes when loading up all the available matches. And it is slow when playing a game, I seem to lose about a second a move compared to my opponent just because of this. I have used other websites as playchess and chesshere, which both run fine and fast, but I have a full membership on here, how come this one is so slow and is there anything that I may be able to do?

First things that come to mind: how's your computer doing in general performance wise and which browser are you using? I believe the chess.com interface is a bit heavy to run (for a java app), so if your computer or browser doesn't handle java too well, it could cause some problems.

Also, I'm moving your thread to the Help & Support section, you may get better responses there.

Okay then, thanks. My computer is, as I say, fine with playchess and chesshere for speed. It seems to be a specific problem with the java then maybe. My cpu spec is Windows 7, it is only a netbook though 1.67 ghz Acer, 1 GB ram. It is fine with many other applications, and even running some at the same time. It seems to be a specific bug with the java script. maybe there is an alternate java format, or internet explorer format that may work quicker? I dont know if anyone knows about this kind of thing.

Well your RAM seems awfully run to be running Windows 7 in the first place, so I would be inclined to think it's mostly due to that. I'm not too familiar with the other sites you mentioned, but after a brief look at their interfaces via Google Images they do look "lighter" than the chess.com interface to run. That could explain why you don't experience any problems in those cases.

You could try switching browser to Google Chrome (for example), if you don't have any particular reason not to. IE isn't exactly known for good performance in java...

I'd say using Internet Explorer is the problem.
