What happened to rated/non-rated & rating ranges?

Is it just my computer, or what happened to option of playing rated or non-rated games in Live Chess? Also, I can no longer select the range of rated players that I would like to seek games against. What's going on here?

It's still there under "custom".

You can still specify rated and unrated and even that you only want an unrated game as black or as white.

The min/max ratings brackets are there too.

I've noticed the problem too. Why can't we set rating ranges on default time controls?

Hey, guys! Just a heads-up on some changes we recently made in Live Chess...

We have greatly improved how we match people looking for rated games in our default time controls. We now pair everyone automatically to the best-matched opponent based on ratinglag, and user behavior.

Because these match so quickly and would otherwise strain the Seek Graph with frequent updates, we no longer display these default seeks. Unrated and custom seeks are still shown.

That's how it works! Just press a button for a good match with little or no waiting - or check the graph for unrated games and/or custom time-controls!

I don't know. but here's something strange I found.

this guy had a bullet rating of 2303 or something and then randomly after a single a game, which he won, it goes to 1500 something?

here's the game he played just before the one above

and here's the one right after

http://www.chess.com/livechess/game?id=858641417

you can check his game archives. it's all there. does anyone have an explanation for this?

It's a tumor.

/ That is sort of interesting but why don't you start a separate thread with this? This thread was about why people can't set customized standard seeks anymore.

Bad , Chess.com always comes above expectation. But all I can say about this change is IT SUCKS

Chewbacca9

I don't like the change at all, either. I like the old way MUCH better.

Nobody like this change, but for some reason, they still defend it and they will keep it even if the entire world is against it.

I sympathize with chess.com : if it significantly improves performance at the cost of requiring a couple more clicks for users who want something different, that's fine with me.
