What makes you say this? I know of no such convention.
Maybe they enjoyed the game and simply want to play another with you, although given your attitude perhaps I give you too much credit.

I think the etiquette here depends on the time control.

I think there should be a setting that allows you to play the best of 3 outright . That would be cool !

Whatever the etiquette, it hardly seems worth the level of animosity we see here. Can't you just decline?
I think your attitude of my attitude is like sour milk upon dung.
Which really just confirms my initial impression.

The last time a person beat me and had the audacity to request a rematch!!... I played them again.
I'm glad I read this, I won't make the same mistake again. There's no way I want to play an opponent capable of beating me. I need to go find some scrub with a lower rating than mine so that I can get rating points back that I just lost.
It's not about playing players that can beat you. It's about playing arses, of which I highly suspect you being one.
So if they beat you, say nothing and offer rematch without any insulting words they are automatically an arse?
Then can the word arse be defined as: an inconvenience that will take 2 seconds to rectify which can only affect my psyche if I allow it to?
You used the word "arse" nine times in your initial post -- in a row no less -- and all over some trivial subjective perception of a rematch request convention that is by no means universal. I think my assessment is valid.
I think someone has forgotten to take his medication today

My point seems to have eluded you. For you to critique my attitude says a lot about your own attitude - sour milk and/or dung.

I believe it's the loser's call on a rematch. In the heat of battle, I will not accept a rematch. A cool headed person will accept the rematch with confidence of winning,, I'm not "there" yet. have a good day

Hold it right there ... aren't we all forgetting that dung comes out of arses?
Maybe if we added grapes to the sour milk, it would help? Oh wait...

I like to rematch an opponent if we play some interesting games together. I quite enjoy when I find someone who wants to scrap, and win or lose we put up some fiesty battles! It's kind of a game to me, to explore what kinds of things me and this other person can create together. If they play super tight positional chess and grind and grind, even if I win I'm not gonna want to play em again.
