Black could have played on move 27 Rc1 winning queen.

Very nice to avoid the tempting (but losing!) 27. ... Rf8 pinning the queen. Black would have been quite disappointed after 28. Rxg7+ Kh8 29. Rf7+

kiesh, I think you mean 27. ... Rf8 trying to win the queen. See the post I made earlier that shows why this attempt to win actually loses!

Yes, I certainly looked at this momentarily before I realized the folly in it.  I think the real key to the combo was actually avoiding 27... e4+.  It seems to follow quite naturally, but the whole combo falls apart as a result after 28. Kf4.  The queen needs free reign on the second rank before that pawn can be pushed in order to allow check to be delivered freely (skewering White's Queen) should the King go to f4.  This is why the push works on move 29 but not on move 27.
