A hypothetical puzzle

This was a blindfolded game a friend and I played at work.  (We weren't literally blindfoldedLaughing).  Unfortunately, my pawn was actually on d6, not d7, making QxR an easy win for me.  This is the position that I had in my head.  (I forgot about moving the pawn.  He forgot I did, too.)  Oh well, I found a winning combination from here anyway. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

That's what white did.  He was aggrevated and had basically given up.  Here's how it may of gone if he took the other rook with his king:
