There is as well 2 Qxf6, with the continuations 2... Bf8 3 Qxg6+ and mate next, or 2... Qf8 3 Ng4.

 

By the way, didn't somebody recently post a game with Be8?  A very pretty resource in both cases!

trial and error, i cant spot that if there is no one to tell me that there is a mate combination; outside puzzle mode very hard to spot for me

yeah..knew this as someone had recently posted a similar bishop move mate.  Not at all easy to spot in a game.  Good one!
