In a free game with my friend i got into very unpleasant situation.

Introduction:

Opponent was checkmated. But we analyzed the game and found, that white could win even after 3. ... Qh3:

Was it really necessary to promote to rook instead of queen...?

the last one doest make sense, cuz after white takes black pawn with queen. black can checkmate with queen by taking the bishop

No, but puzzle doesn't allow multiple variants and in game i promoted to rook.

4. Qxe6+ CHECK! Moves like 4. ... Qxf1 are illegal now.
