Hello, this is my 48th chess problem:Cool

                          White mates in 2

Asorski

I haven't check this puzzle with an engine as I have difficulty downloading the file. I hope It got no cook!

Asorski

So there is one. Thank you s0030135 for finding one. Embarassed

Now, see if you can find another after I made my correction.

Please see my edited post No.1 and try to mate in 2 again.

Asorski

Ok. You are bright solver huh! 1. Rf2!! is a "waiting for the day" move.

CONGRATULATIONS, You have solved this problem!Cool

Why wouldn't black go Kd3?

Asorski

This problem featured 3 different change mates.

A look at the diagram reveals that Black is in zugzwang. If it is Black to move the set mates are the following:

a. ...Kd3 1. Qxh7#

b. ...d3 1. Rc4#

c. ...e2 1. Nf2#

Plus other mates: (...Bg6 1. Bxg6 and ...Bf5 1. Qxf5#)

After the waiting 1. Rf2!!, the changemate I referred to were:

a. 1...Kd3 2. Nc5# (instead of Qxh7#)

b. 1...d3 2. Qc4# (instead of Rc4#)

c. 1...e2 2. Qf3#  (instead of Nf2#)
