Yes, that was not forced.  You did however have the amusing possibility 1... Nh4--which does indeed seem to force mate.

I asked if you were serious, because I saw that you have a rating over 1700, and should see obvious three move combo's in the "bat" of an eyelid!

 

p.s. Agent of Desolation doesn't pay very well, but the perks are great!

In fact Nf4 fails to Rxf4 or, better yet, Bxf4. However Nh4! immediately is forced mate. If gxh4 Qg2#, any move other than moving the g1 knight (e.g. Rxg4) results in Bg2#, if the knight moves then Qf6+ with mate to follow. Although Nf4 isn't a bad move it isn't the best as it does not directly contribute to the mate. After all you can still play Nh4 next move. Good game though, I'm sure you enjoyed creaming your brother! Well done.
