was the problem that the rook could just eat the pawn and get a checkmate?
Mate in 7 (from another daily puzzle called Glek Combination) - there are a few possible variations, but none that i see changing the mate in 7

..Mate in minimum number of moves..
this puzzle is difficult because the black King magically can move (jump) to "any" free square unattacked by white pieces..
..some solutions are less than 16 moves, can you beat that?
Here is a hard won, mate in 7.
Also blacks moves are not the best.
Only if you want to solve the puzzle quickly.
Don't forget first you have to state that your a chess.com member like this:
