Decoy I just used
Obviously Kb8 would be the best move but, with puzzles and TT the point is that you find or influence an error which you then capitalise. If the opponent always made the very best moves then there would be no such thing as puzzles in chess.
I made him think that taking my bishop was equally good and I guess he thought that the knight wasn't going anywhere fast so better to take the bishop 1st. Obviously he paid the price. Thank you for your comments :)
Actually, most puzzles involve forcing play, where the opponent has no way to avoid loss of material, mate, forced draw, weakening of position, and so on.
Fair enough, I understand that the opponent should play the best move. However this is not TT and I was playing against a human, nevertheless I think the puzzle was worthwhile putting up because although my worthy opponent fell for the bait doesn't diminish the value of the puzzle. It has nothing to do with allowing the best move because it is taken from a real blitz game. And if you noticed I asked if there were any better moves so I'm open to constructive criticism.
i know in many TT puzzles the computer does make the best moves possible but not all the time, many times it leaves pieces hanging 'meaninglessly' but its down to the intelligent individual to find the error. Its all part of observation and cunning.
The purpose of me putting this up is that even if you are in a losing position never give up. When practicing TT where a mate is inevitable, the computer will throw anything in the way to distract you or make you make a mistake/blunder. This I believe is a perfect example of how that works and the underdog can come out on top.
