3. Qxd8 is better than the given move, I think. Results in a much bigger material advantage. For this reason, it is better for black to play 2... Rxe8.

Oh well, you're right about that. It was the first move that was the main part of the "puzzle" I saw while playing. I just copied what I played in the real game (fairly surprised I saw in a real time game so quickly). But either way, anyone one should resign soon afterward.
