I played this position in a blitz game.
Before making a move in this position my opponent resigned, but maybe not because he felt his game crashed, but I was consuming a lot of time searching the final combination.

How much time took you to find it?
It must include any variation and subvariation.

Well I found your variation quickly, but I left it because of Kf3.

Instead Bxh7+ Kxh7 Qh4+ Kg1 Rh6 Qxa8+ Kf7 f3 Bc5+ Rf2 Qh1#

 Realy, sirfraijo, I supposed you didn't take in account 3. Kf3!? OK, u have at least a perpetual check with 3... Nf5+ 4. Ke2 (4. Ke3?? Qe4# Laughing) Qe4+ 5. Kd1 Qf3+ etc. And u can to continue an attack with 3... 3... Rf8+ 4. Ke2 Qe5+ 5. Kd1 Qh5+ 6. Kd1 Ne5 and white has a realy hard time!

A second solution proposed from Akuni is, I suppose: 1... Bxf2 (not f7...) 2. Kxf7 Qh4+ 3. Kg1 Rh6 4. Qxa8+ Kf7 5. f3 and then Bct5+... ups, there are no bishop on a table!! Surprised

 However, all those wild sacrifices are unnecessary. 1... Rb8 2. Qxa7 Qh4 3. g3 Bc5 4. Qa5 and then a sacrifice: 4... Rxg3+ 5. hg3 Qxg3+ 6. Kh1 Qf3+ 7. Kg1 Rf4! 8. Qxb4 (only way to prevent Rg4+ with a mate) Bxb4 and black still has a strong attack,  enough to win in nxt few moves.

Nice position. I found the solution. 1... ,Rxg2+; 2.Kxg2, ...; (White must take the gift. If not then Black plays 2..., Rh2+; 3.Kg1,Qg5++), 2...,Qg5+ and here I first analized 2.Kh1,...; Black moves 2...,Qf4. 3.Qxa8+,Kf7; 4.Kg2,Qg4+; 5.Kh1,Qh3;  6.f4,Qxf1++. But also Black can continue with 4...,Qxh2+; 5.Kf3,... and here 5...,Qh5!! (In my opinion, the thematic move of the position) 6.Kg2,Qg4+; 7.Kh1,Qh3+; 8.Kg1,Qh2++. After 5...,Qh5!! White can not play 5.Kd3, Qe5+; 6.Kf3,Qe4++  (6.Kd3, Qe4+; 7.Kc3,Qc4++). Finally, if White plays early 2.Kf3,...; then 2...,Qh5!!. and so so...              PD: 2.Kh3,Qh4+; 3.Kg2,Qxh2+. and so so so...

Hi Lydia.

In this position you can force the checkmate by "Brute Force".
Of course the black position is more than great, the point is to force the win in the quickest way.

When the solution in the diagram is displayed, please click over the  "Move List" button to see the variations.

1... Bxh2+ forces the checkmate too, but slower as stated.

I believe that Lydia is wondering what would happen after 3 Kf3 Qh5+ 4 Ke3...as indeed so am I.

4. Qd8 can delay the checkmate one move more, but this solution is not as aesthetic as the proposal.

Nice mate (and no, it wasn't included in the move list).
